Description:
After his affair with Lana goes public, Leo is broke, unemployed, and battling his estranged wife to see his two children. His lover suggests a job that makes quick cash, but it has deadly consequences.

When Lana's trial begins, Leo crosses paths with Travis, who is in the midst of a big investigation into a dangerous gang that he must keep hidden from Val. Travis and Leo's paths eventually cross, and they work together to try and solve the case. However, they learn not everyone involved is who they say they are. Can Travis keep Leo -- and himself -- alive long enough to solve the case?

Review:
Money or Mayhem is very different from Closure or Ammo, the first book in this series. The first book is chicklit/romance gone wrong whereas this one could be straight out of a cop show. I really enjoyed the infusion of action into this book, and it is one of the reasons I liked it better than Closure or Ammo. I also liked it better because the characters seemed to have more depth and growth. Some of them still made very bad decisions or had qualities I didn’t like, but it was easier for me to feel sympathetic for their situations, especially since they were growing because of their mistakes.

While overall I liked the difference in pace and focus in this book, at times it felt like I was reading a completely different series. Val and Lana’s relationship was central to the first book, and in this one is was non-existent. It would have been nice to have a bit of a continuation of that first story-line, or at least a bit from the perspective of Lana or Val.

Money or Mayhem is an unexpected continuation of this series, but it piqued my interest more in the characters and the story line. I am definitely intrigued now as to how the author will further the story and bring all of these elements she has set up in the past two books together.
